OUR WORK
It is planned to establish SCA for the principal purpose of promoting, advancing, empowering and representing the interests of consumers of seafood.
SCA will seek to achieve this through:
- Promoting consumer access to quality, sustainably harvested, healthy and affordable seafood;
- Fostering transparency and ethical practices within the seafood industry;
- Promoting sustainable seafood practices that protect marine ecosystems and support fish populations, and engaging with stakeholders to encourage such practices;
- Educating the public on the benefits and importance of sustainable seafood consumption;
- Supporting and promoting initiatives that address food security and nutrition through the promotion of seafood consumption;
- Undertaking, supporting and disseminating reliable and accurate research on seafood-related issues to seafood consumers and other stakeholders;
- Developing a strong, coordinated voice for seafood consumers and representing and advocating on behalf of seafood consumers to government, regulators and the seafood industry; and
- Doing all other lawful things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the Objects of the Constitution.
